Simulation of employment rates for older people up to 2030 ========================================================== - Project funded by the **Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection** The Austrian federal government's 2025-2029 government program announces an employment package for older people, which also aims to raise the de facto retirement age. The mix of measures is intended to rapidly increase the employment rate of older people in order to achieve the aforementioned consolidation contribution in the pension sector. The sustainability mechanism provided for in the government programme with the planned cost containment path (€ 1.45 billion by 2028 and € 2.9 billion by 2031), which is to be achieved in particular by increasing the employment rate and thus raising the de facto retirement age, will be reviewed in 2030. In order to determine the cost containment path, a reference path is required that shows in particular the development of employment rates up to 2030 that would result without the measures envisaged in the government program. This project applies the dynamic microsimulation model microDEMS.
